Đức Giáo hoàng Leo XIV đã nói rằng các giáo viên trường Công giáo nên là “hình mẫu trong cuộc sống” cũng như “hình mẫu của đức tin” trong cái mà ngài mô tả là “cuộc hành hương môn đệ” của một giáo viên. “Chúng ta nghe nhạc, tai chúng ta liên tục bị ngập tràn bởi đủ loại thông tin kỹ thuật số, nhưng đôi khi chúng ta quên lắng nghe chính trái tim mình. Và chính trong trái tim chúng ta mà Thiên Chúa nói với chúng ta, Thiên Chúa kêu gọi chúng ta và mời gọi chúng ta hiểu biết Ngài hơn và sống trong tình yêu của Ngài.
“Và thông qua việc lắng nghe đó, các con có thể mở lòng để cho ân sủng của Thiên Chúa củng cố đức tin của mình vào Chúa Giê-su, để các con có thể sẵn sàng chia sẻ món quà đó với những người khác.”

Đức Giáo hoàng nói rằng nhu cầu thực sự lắng nghe Thiên Chúa cũng áp dụng cho các giáo viên, “do vai trò quan trọng của quý vị trong việc hình thành thế hệ trẻ ngày nay.”

“Và cuối cùng, khi tất cả quý vị trở về nhà, xin hãy nhớ rằng một cuộc hành hương không kết thúc, nó chuyển trọng tâm sang ‘cuộc hành hương của người môn đệ’ hàng ngày.
“Tất cả chúng ta đều là những người hành hương và chúng ta luôn là những người hành hương, bước đi khi chúng ta tìm cách theo Chúa, và khi chúng ta tìm kiếm con đường thực sự của mình trong cuộc sống.
“Điều đó chắc chắn không dễ dàng, nhưng với sự giúp đỡ của Chúa, sự chuyển cầu của các thánh, và bằng cách khuyến khích lẫn nhau, anh chị em có thể chắc chắn rằng, anh chị em giữ vững đức tin, luôn tin tưởng vào lòng thương xót của Thiên Chúa, kinh nghiệm của cuộc hành hương này sẽ tiếp tục mang lại hoa trái trong suốt cuộc đời anh chị em.”

“Use this opportunity for listening, for prayer, so that you may hear more clearly God’s voice calling you deep within your hearts,” Leo said.
“I would add that today, so often, we lose the ability to listen – to really listen.
“We listen to music, we have our ears flooded constantly with all kinds of digital input, but sometimes we forget to listen to our own hearts. And it’s in our hearts that God speaks to us, that God calls us and invites us to know him better and to live in his love.
“And through that listening you might be open to allowing God’s grace to strengthen your faith in Jesus, so that you might more readily share that gift with others.”

“They’ll look to you particularly as to how you teach and how you live,” he added. “I hope that, each day, you will nurture your relationship with Christ, who gives us the pattern of all authentic, so that, in turn, you may guide and encourage those entrusted to your care to follow Christ in their own lives.
“And finally, when all of you return home, please remember that a pilgrimage does not end, it shifts its focus to the daily ‘pilgrimage of discipleship’.
“We are all pilgrims and we are always pilgrims, walking as we seek to follow the Lord, and as we seek the path that is truly ours in life.
“That’s certainly not easy, but with the help of the Lord, the intercession of the saints, and by encouraging one another, you can be certain that, as long as you remain faithful, trusting always in God’s mercy, the experience of this pilgrimage will continue to bear fruit throughout your lives.”

There are also concerns about whether Catholic children are being sufficiently catechised in the integrity of the faith by their parents and by their teachers.
